I just got roku 2500x without a remote didn't even know it needed one. since it was free I cant really complain. Was told I could get some channels for free all I needed to do was hook it up. It was to good to be true of course so I'm trying to find out what I need to do to make it work. I have over 40 tv vcr dvd and satellite remote controls from like RCA,Sony HAIER DirectTv COBY PANASONIC SYLVANIA and the list goes on, cant I use one of them. None of them say ROKU anywhere on them. If I cant use one of those how about a cell phone? Or what do I to do..I miss the old days when u whet out and found the tallest tree in your yard climbed up as high as you could cut the top off and strapped your antenna to it.free tv.only got 4 or5 channels. But that's all we needed .so tell what it is I'm going to have to do. Please? thanks tom..
If you have a recent universal remote (within the last several years) it may have a code for a Roku. Otherwise, go out and get a cheap universal remote that supports Roku. The 2500 is considered a legacy device and is no longer supported, but you may get some use out of it if you can find a very cheap remote. However, it may turn out to be not worth your time and money.
And all without needing to climb a tree.
