Question about Roku Remote specifically

Jump to solution

I purchased a TCL Roku tv from Costco lower back on Black Friday. I love this tv. It is the first Roku product i've ever owned, so i'm not super acquainted with how the fine of the far off generally is. The remote that came with the tv just immediately up sucks. About ninety% of the time it just doesn't work. Pretty certain it's an IR far flung and that i may be pointing it on the television from a foot away and it may not reply from time to time. I do have the app on my phone and that faraway works flawlessly, but if i'm gambling a recreation or checking e mail with my smartphone, it's a pain within the ass to drag up the app when the bodily far off is sitting proper subsequent to me . Is this an average trouble with the remotes or is there something else wrong that I want to address?

It could be the remote or it could be some kind of interference from something like sunlight or something blocking the IR sensor on the TV like a sound bar.  If you get a voice remote most of the commands will be sent via RF (Wi-Fi direct), so that may be an option.  I think the power and volume controls will still be sent via IR.

Walmart, Target, and Best Buy sell Roku voice remotes or you can get one directly from Roku:

Many cheap universal remotes also support Roku TVs if you want to give a different IR remote a try.  Note that TV remotes are supplied by the manufacturer, so if it is the remote it's TCL's responsibility.
