Problems with rewinding and fast forwarding

I just bought a Roku stick and remote. It seemed to be working fine at first, but now I'm suddenly having problems with rewinding and fast-forwarding.  When I press the rewind button, it only backs up a second or so, and then starts at that point.  When I press the curved arrow button, instead of rewinding a few seconds, it always takes me back to the point where I had previously pressed that button,. which at this point is about 15 minutes previously.  Help!!

Thanks for your response! I did do a system restart, and that seems to have solved the problem.  Thanks again!
