Panasonic tv - can’t hold down on/off switch

I recently got the new Roku Streaming Stick 4k and while the remote works for the volume it does not work turning the tv on/off.

To turn my tv off you have to hold down the power button, when I hold down the power button on the Roku remote, the light flashed as if it’s received a signal, but not a held down one.

After troubleshooting with Roku live chat I found that it will usually work for the first turn off after restarting and then will fail to work. I also discovered that if I rapidly press the off button it will replicate a held down signal and turn off (with difficulty). Anyone else had this problem and know a fix?

@SteveC26

Thanks for the post.

It's possible that the button on your remote may be defective.

Can you please provide the serial number of your Roku device from Settings>System>About? I'll be able to assist you further from there.

Thanks,
Danny

You sure its panasonic tv and not a philips? Philips tv's suffer from a toggle bit, you can't press the same key twice, even if its the next day. Pressing the volume key on the remote before the pressing power key  usually works on philips.
