Orders I did not intend to place from other rokus when TV is shut off

My daughter and I both have our own TV and Roku in the same bedroom but since the remote does not shut off the Roku, it adds and removes channels as well as orders paid services on the TV not being watched when the other Roku is being used. What is the best way to fix this issue? (We recently had to pay Vudu $29.99 for a show nobody watched because we cannot contact anyone through their telephone customer support and I'm very concerned this could happen again as we are on a ridiculously tight budget.) Thank you.

As far as Vudu goes set a parental pin, then go into parental settings and set it so you need to enter pin to buy for ALL. Do this to both roku vudu apps, because its not global, each device has to have set separately. Amazon has pin you can set, so does Roku.

You can switch your roku's to use wifi voice remote both, that way there isn't anymore conflicts like IR remotes. You will have to abandon both IR remotes, because roku accept both types of signals at the same time, one doesn't turn off the other.

@JenBentz

First, understand that Roku will not order anything by itself. It requires action on someone's part. So, either someone is using the remote to order something, or, if no one is taking any action, then nothing is being ordered via the Roku. That would mean a scammer is at work.

Are you seeing a charge on your Roku account on the Roku Website? Go to https://my.roku.com/ and click on Manage your subscriptions or View your purchase history. If there is nothing there, then there is not a charge form Roku.

While you're there, you might want to add PIN to your account. There is a link on the Roku account page. Set a PIN for all purchases. You may even want to remove the credit card from your account, if you're not going to buy anything. Go to the Roku Account page and click on the Update button under Payment Method. Then, scroll all the way down and click Remove Payment Method.

Depending on what you find under Subscriptions and Purchases, other action may be needed, but adding a PIN and/or removing the payment information keeps accidental purchases from happening.

I have already set a pin but didn’t know removing my payment method was an option. (I’ve done this on Amazon and they still charge that card for stuff I’ve canceled.) This seems like a great option. Thank you.

Re: Orders I did not intend to place from other rokus when TV is shut off

I believe I have older remotes because there is no power off button for either one but I can roll over in my sleep and accidentally hit the vudu button and order something with my **bleep**, lol! But seriously, I’m not sure there is an option to use voice control on these either. I am not very technically savvy either. I have currently resorted to unplugging the roku not being used at any given time, which is a pain considering I had my cords hidden, my TVs mounted and my 7 year old forgets every single time. Until I find a better solution I will just have to re-download and unsubscribe to channels each time I use my TV after my daughter has used hers and have my ugly cords out in the meantime. Still open to suggestions though. Thank you!
