I need a replacement remote for 4630X, don't know if its IR or IF or both ?
Does anyone have a suggestion on what remote I need and/or if an after-market model will work better ?
Thanks
Sid
Yes - they can/do transmit both (one or the other, configurable with advanced settings configuration, including for TV/AVR/soundbar IR v CEC control)
A Roku Simple Remote is just that - IR-only (no voice or power/volume controls etc).
A Universal remote would be akin to a Simple Remote when programmed for Roku.
The 4630 is both IR and WiFi Direct.
For official remotes, either the $20 Voice Remote (RCAL7R) or $30 Voice Remote Pro (RCS01R) can be used, and can be obtained from Roku.com/Walmart/Best Buy/Amazon/etc.

For unofficial remotes, you'd need an IR-only Universal/Roku pre-programmed remote, which can be had for $5-15 at Walmart/Best Buy/Amazon/etc.
Thank you for the link, the page lists all those remotes, but no model number or detail on each ?!
Only: Pro, Enhanced, Voice and Simple !
How do you get a model or specs from that ?
Thanks
Sid.
Our Roku is buried in a birds nest of cables behind the TV, so I am pretty sure its IF.
Which models are IF ?

Which models are IF ?
You're looking for RF (Radio Frequency). Either of the Voice Remotes are RF. The Simple remote is IR (Infrared).
Will all the models respond to IR remotes ?
And the better ones respond to both IR and RF ?
All the non-Stick models support both IR and WiFi Direct (RF)
Stick models only support WiFi Direct (RF)
Re-read my initial response to you for information.
Thank you for the prompt response !
So the IR remotes need no setup, but the RF versions need to be synced with Roku unit ?
Thanks
Correct.
Last question: Are the remotes the transmit RF, transmit IR as well ?
Or is it one or the other ? Programmable option ?
Thanks
