Hi All,
Just bought a LG 4K smart TV from Costco and noticed that the LG remote doesn’t work within the ROKU app. I’ve tried switching HDMI ports and different Roku sticks but can only navigate within Roku app with Roku remote. I’ve gone thru the LG Universal Control Settings configuration and the secondary configuration of the connected HDMI device (the one with the remote tests) and still can’t use LG remote within Roku app I might return LG TV if I can’t figure this out bc I’d rather not use two remotes.
Change Network access under Settings->System->Advanced system settings->Control by mobile apps to Enabled or Permissive.

Hi @renojim - Tried this and it worked for about a month. Then this morning, it reverted back to the LG remote control not working within the Roku app again. Any other suggestions?
@PacsAdminKP, have you made sure that the setting wasn't changed again? Sometimes Roku updates change settings. Beyond that, all I could say to try is to unplug the power from everything briefly and see if it works once everything powers back up.
@renojim I have the same problem. I was able to get the remote to work back in January by changing the mobile app setting to permissive. However, it stopped working again about 2/10. I'm looking to see if there were any other updates that have occurred with LG or Roku. What a pain.
Update: I did see that a LG software update was released on 2/7/2025. I didn't find a new release for Roku so assuming the LG update may be the culprit. I also saw some people had luck with plugging Roku into the HDMI 2 (with ARC). I may try this as well to see if I have any luck but I currently have my SONOS sound bar plugged into that slot.
