Headphones and TV speakers

I have a Roku ultra with headphone jack on the side. Up until recently I could hook up the headphones then press the audio (volume button) up x 2, down x 2, up x 3, down x 3 and be able to use the headphones and TV speakers simultaneously.  This no longer works. Was there a software update? New trick?

We really miss this as my wife's hearing is not the best and it helps for her to use the headphones when we watch TV together.

Yes this was really useful for those in your (our) situation.  Unfortunately this "secret menu" option was removed a while ago.

Those "secret menu" items are not officially supported and there's no guarantee they'll always be recognized. I haven't a clue why they dropped that one, but perhaps it conflicted or gave problems with some feature that was added later.

That really is terrible. It makes the TV useless to my wife and  myself at the same time. So, unless we use closed captions, we cannot watch together.  this stinks. Time to switch.
