I'll start by saying I can't confirm if this is a Harmony problem or a Roku problem. I'm looking for some advice as I can't sort it out.
The problem: I have 4 (Living room, play room, office, bedroom) Harmony 650 remotes that each have an activity for controlling the Roku. I have an HDMI switch (Wyrestorm MX-0404-PP-KIT) that takes the four inputs via IR, transfers over ethernet cable, then converts back into IR in my media closet for controlling the video sources (I currently have three). In all rooms except the bedroom, the remotes work just fine and control the Roku. In the bedroom, the Roku accepts no commands from any of the Harmony remotes. All remotes (including bedroom remote) control Roku at all other locations.
This would seem to indicate that my IR receiver or something is off in my bedroom, but the twist is that I can use the Harmony remote to control other devices from my bedroom. (meaning that the IR repeater and corresponding devices are controlled okay) I have additionally switched out the components from a 'working' room to the bedroom and still am not able to control the Roku. I've validated that the ethernet cables are wired correctly.
Again, all other rooms can control the Roku, just not my bedroom, so it's not the connection from the HDMI switch and the Roku either.
I've run out of troubleshooting scenarios here. Can anyone provide any insight?
Thanks!
Craig
The Roku you can't control isn't a stick, is it?
No, it is not. Sorry, I failed to specify: It's a Roku Ultra.
The Roku remote *does* work from my bedroom (along with the iOS app), but defeats the purpose of having the Harmony.
Have you moved or swapped the problem Ultra with a working Roku device in another room? Can you control it in the bedroom with the Roku remote? The light on the front should flash whenever you press a button on the remote.
Sorry, I may not have been clear about that either. I have 1 (one) Roku Ultra. Each location uses an IR repeater to communicate with the Roku. Works in all other locations, just not the bedroom.
Yes, the 'official' Roku remote works from the bedroom, but it's not using IR.
I think one of my next tests will be to move the Roku to another output on the switch. (currently in position 4 of 4, so maybe move it to position 3 to rule out issues with the switch)
