I have used my Roku Ultra remote for the past 2-years to control my Vizio soundbar volume and my TV power with no problems at all. Recently, my son-in-law was visiting and somehow (button pushing) the remote was put into 'Gaming' mode. I have no idea how. When I try to get the Roku system to recognize the remote as the original Roku Ultra - it won't.
Roku Support has no clue. I have tried factory resets of the system multiple times from the screen and the back of the Roku box but the same 'Gaming Remote (In Use)' appears. This only allows control of the TV power and volume.
How do I get my Roku system to get out of the Gaming Remote (In Use) mode????
Please HELP!!!
@JImAZ- I'm not where I can check the Roku menu path right now, but try setting up the remote as a New Device, instead of resetting the (in use) remote.
My Roku remote has controlled my Vizio TV for years. We moved the TV to a new room, and now it says Gaming remote, and will not control the volume. We tried doing the new remote thing that plays music while it searches, but the music never stops and it says our Vizio won’t work with the remote. I know it does because we’ve been using it for years. Is there any other way to switch it from gaming remote?
If this gaming remote is old it may not have tv IR on board, it only controls the tv volume by hdmi-cec. So try refreshing the cec devices in the setting of the tv?
