Express 4K+ -- Voice remote intermittently loses (radio) connection, but IR works fine. Ideas?

We have a 1 1/2 month old Express 4K+ purchased new on Amazon. Since a few weeks ago, the remote has been *very* flaky. Nearly every time we watch something, the remote's control of the roku flakes out. Specifically, this is via the radio connection, as our roku is in a cabinet. I have to get up and bring the remote to IR/visual range of the roku and it then works, and usually keeps working for a while on radio/out-of-visual-range.

Any ideas? This is driving us nuts, and I wish we returned it in the 30 day return window...

Have you tried new batteries?  Many have stated that the batteries that came with the remote are no good.

Replace batteries with high quality ones (not rechargeable).

Try with Roku just "outside" the cabinet/door open.  Radio is a funny thing, all kinds of stuff can block the low power signals used.  Device wasn't designed to be buried in a cabinet.

Also plug Roku USB power into a socket with supplied power supply or other 1a+rated USB power, not into tv usb. Many TVs only offer 0.5a USB (per standard!) which isn't quite enough, can make things a bit flaky.

The more expensive Roku tend to have better radios, e.g. streaming stick+.
