If not do anyone know of any 3 party product that would control a roku over a local network.
Maybe this will help.
The Roku app available for Android and iOS mobiles can be used to control a Roku connected to the same local network as the mobile device.
Thanks that is what I am doing but I was looking for something that the whole family could use (like all the grandkids) our roku ultra is located in a network rack in the basement. Thanks again.
The ultra remote is wifi and should go through walls.
I got all excited when I saw your answer so I had to do some more testing. My guess is that the ultra are establishing its own Wi-Fi network and not using my Wi-Fi or it would work I have to say that my basement walls are concrete with wire mess and Wi-Fi will not go through it. I really appreciate your answer and I learned something again.I am all ears if anyone have any workaround for our issue. Thanks again.
Other than the phone app idea, the Harmony Hub used to be able to control Roku devices via TCP/IP, but Harmony discontinued all their remotes and even if you could get one I'm not sure how well it's supported anymore.
Thanks all you guys have been great. I guess unless something new develops like that roku will make a remote that will use your local Wi-Fi we are stuck right here. Thanks again to all of you.
