Can’t get the remote to find the tv so it can work volume & power

Can’t get my remote to work volume and power. It did work for awhile.       
Tried to pair it again but every time it gets to the tv controls it says it can’t find my brand of tv. I have tried every brand and it still won’t work

@Jberning-

Some have reported that by connecting to another network while setting up their remote for their TV, for instance their phone's wifi hotspot, it enables the TV brand to be recognized so the setup can complete.  Once the remote is successfully set up for the TV, you can then return to your normal home network.
