Why isn’t there a headphone jack in the Pro 2nd gen?  Watching in bed at night with the lights out, the backlight is essential.  Also needed, the headphone jack for when one of us is sleeping and the other wants to watch TV.  Seems like a no brainer and a pretty big miss on the  Pro 2nd gen.  Are there plans to make this upgrade in the next voice remote iteration?

That's a fantastic idea! For now, I recommend trying the Roku Mobile app so you can connect headphones while you're in bed. Here’s a link to download the app.
