I have a roku express+ that uses an IR remote. I also have 4 of those remotes that all work with other roku devices I have. All 4 of them suddenly stopped working with one of the devices. This device, roku Express+, is the one with a little console that connects to the TV with a USB and HDMI cable.
I replaced the batteries, reset the device by unplugging USB power cable for 5 seconds then plugging it back in and verified that the USB cable is connectedproperly. There are no obstructions blocking the console and remotes. The app on my phone however does operate everything. I've also restarted the device using the settings menu.
I have not seen any fixes other than buying a new remote which of course will not help because I already have 4 remotes that work with the other 3 roku devices. I cannot keep using my phone. Please help!
You wrote you're powering it by plugging into the usb port on the tv? Try plugging into usb power adapter and plugging that into wall outlet. You have 4 you say you must have usb adapter handy?
To echo what @Tivoburkee said, it came with a power supply. Try using it and see what happens.
One other test you could make: you have multiple devices, you say, all Roku Express+ devices (model 3710 or 3910 based on your description). Swap the problem device with one of the other devices. Just unplug everything from the Express+ and do the swap. Leave the cords and everything else connected as they are.
Once you do that, does the problem follow the Roku? Or does it remain on the same TV with the other Roku device?

I'm not sure why changing where the power is connected would matter when it's always had power but I tried it hoped it would work. It didn't. I even tried 2 other cables.
I only have 2 Roku Express', the other 2 are built into the tv. However all 4 remotes would work on the the others. I swapped out the expres' and just as I thought, the one that remotes work with worked on the other tv and the problem device still didn't work when swapped.
I'll be honest, sometimes the only thing that keeps me from snapping and hollering at the family is knowing that I can go off by myself and watch whatever I want on my tv. There has to be a fix. This Roku device is only a year old. Right now I can't afford to purchase a new device. I bought these in the first place to save money.

If the TV developed an issue with the USB port and the voltage wasn't stable, you can get unexpected results. Troubleshooting would rule that in or out. The results indicated ruling that out as a cause.

That pretty much indicates that Express+ device does indeed have a problem.
You say it's an IR remote. The Express+ models 3710 (from 2016) and 3910 (from 2017) came with IR remotes. Model 3931 (from 2019) came with a Voice Remote that uses WiFi Direct. If you have one of the older devices (you never supplied the model number, so I'm basing this on your assertion that it's an IR remote, and therefore older device) its out of warranty, as you would have purchased it prior to September 2019.
If it's out of warranty, then yes, that is a major concern, as a new purchase would be necessary.
Got one wild idea, just as a last-ditch thing to try. If it's an older IR device, if anything gets on the IR sensor and blocks it, it won't work. Have you checked to ensure it's clean on the front? Dirt doesn't show very well on those devices due to the color and texture. Wipe the front with a clean damp cloth, then with a clean dry cloth, just to make sure.

I just had this happen today suddenly all my roku express stopped working. Well remotes unpaired & won't synch again. Lights flash on roku & control but pairing doesn't appear on tv attempted restarting. Repairing. Nothing. Did you find a fix?
I tried cleaning the face of the console, as well as the remotes, and it still doesn't work.
If these Roku devices only work for a year I definitely made the wrong decision. I'm worried as **bleep** about the TVs with the built in roku. I made a very bad and expensive mistake.
I’ve used various Roku devices since 2010. I had one go bad, and it was replaced under warranty.
I have a device from 2016 that’s used every day by a member of the family.
If you’re sour on Roku, there are plenty of great devices out there. Apple TV is awesome. A lot of people like Fire TV, but I find the Firesticks to be underpowered. Chromecast with Google TV is a good device.
Therr are other options. Roku has been my go-to device since 2010.

I have 2 roku devices 3810x streaming stick plus, and 3600x). I have unplugged, reset, changed batteries, and even re-set all of my smart TV settings trying to figure out why roku remotes stopped working. At first, I lost the ability to change my TV volume, but no I can longer turn my TV on or off. I have no way to get to my roku settings because I can't access my roku home page....very frustrating!

In this post, and the post on a different thread, you never said you attempted to set up the remote again using Settings > Remotes & devices > Remotes > [the remote] > Set up remote for TV control
Perhaps the remove lost the configuration. Try setting that up. You don't need to pair the remote again, just configure the remote for the TV again.
