I have not found information of the 4660X remote batteries suddenly draining. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I read it might be connecting to my wifi router but I'm not sure how to change that. The batteries on the remote need to be changed weekly and the head phone jack is never used.

Some people do report batteries suddenly draining at a fast rate. I have the 4660 Ultra and have never experienced that. I've had mine over three years and have probably changed the batteries four times total, maybe five times. I changed them a couple of months ago (February) and that was either the 4th or 5th time. Anyway, the point is that each set lasts several months for me. Whatever is happening isn't a widespread thing.

About the WiFi router, I suppose if the channel on which you're connecting is crowded, that could cause the remote to work harder to maintain or reestablish a connection. I would have thought an on-screen notice would occur. Depending on how much you used the device, you may or may not have seen such a notice. Still, not seeing one doesn't rule it out.

What channel is your Roku connecting on?

Settings > Network > About

Settings > Network > Check connection

That's not a common channel, although it's a perfectly valid channel. Is your network configured to use channel 8? Or is it set to Auto and channel 8 happens to be the one it thinks is best?

That's a 2.4 GHz channel, and it actually overlaps part of several other channels. All channels 1-11 overlap some other channels. However, the two outer channels 1, 11, as will as the middle channel 6, do not overlap each other. Generally, you'll find 2.4 GHz networks broadcasting on one of those. Your channel 8 overlaps both 6 and 11.

Why that's important is that the various channels can have a lot of traffic, even if not on your network. Other networks use the same channels, and can cause channel overcrowding. 

The simplest way to troubleshoot and resolve is to focus on just those three: 1, 6, 11

Set your network to Auto if it's not already. If it was already on Auto, and it was choosing 8, try manually changing it. Try all three if necessary. Since you're using 8, and it overlaps both 6 & 11, I'd start with 1.

This may not resolve it, but if a crowded channel is causing your remote to work extra hard to maintain a connection, it's possible this is the cause.

It's also possible that the remote is bad, or an entire batch of batteries is bad. But as I mentioned earlier, I've had rock solid performance from my 4660 Ultra and the remote, so I would think it uncommon what you're experiencing.
