I have a Roku Premier+ 4630x and a brand new LG tv (2021 model)
I had this Roku on my old Sharp TV that was older and everything worked fine. After getting the new LG tv I did not like their WebOS interface so I went back to my Roku. Everything works great except that the Roku remote is not changing the volume or powering off the TV.
Solutions I tried...
- My LG tv does have the CEC enabled. However on the Roku the remote is still saying "The current remove does not support tv control"
- I have rebooted both the TV and Roku multiple times
- I have factory reset both the TV and Roku.
Is there any way I can get my Roku remote to control the TV volume? If not, does anyone have a good universal remote to suggest?
Your original 4630 premiere+ remote did not have tv IR on board. It only controlled the volume by hdmi-cec. That's why it tells you that remote doesn't have tv controls like newer remotes have. It would be waste to just upgrade your remote for $20, the price of roku voice remotes with tv controls, when you can get the newest Roku the express 4k+ for $30 on sale:

I also have the 4630x and the volume control did work on my old Panasonic Viera TV but quit. I expect it stopped working because of some programming change or simply because the Premiere+ is no longer being supported. All other functions continue to work fine. Is there any way to get it to work again?
See if you can refresh the cec devices connected to your tv in the tv settings?
