remote intermittently inoperative

The remote recently started to not work at times, buttons pressed but no response, new batteries - no difference. Streaming stick with USB power from Samsung TV always responds to on/off, but OK and arrow buttons don't always respond and are very slow to respond when they do. Fast forward, play, and rewind are the same.

Can you replace the remote under warranty? Other thoughts?

Re: remote intermittently inoperative

Yes, remotes can be replaced under warranty. But the 3800 is a 3 year old device, and I believe the warranty is for one year. The good news is that replacement remotes are available for that model of Stick.

If you've owned yours for less than a year, you can likely get warranty service if you have your proof of purchase.

Re: remote intermittently inoperative

Mine is doing this now as well. Sometimes it just decides it doesn’t want to respond to the remote. I ultimately decided to break down and buy a new remote but it’s doing the same thing. Sometimes when it’s not responding I can hold the remote higher and it will start to respond. Almost like the range of the stick is weakening. It worked fine at my last house where I sat farther away from the tv. I’m now only maybe 8-10’ max from the Roku at any time. Am I just going to have buy a new Roku? Also do I need to post this question as a new question maybe?

         First try uninstalling and reinstalling the batteries in your device. If that doesn't work, then go to your settings and go to remotes and other devices and try to install a new remote. To see if that works. If it doesn't then order a new remote.

@PluggedN24

Since you have a Stick, your remote is a WiFi Direct model. It doesn't use IR, so it doesn't need to see the Roku to work. However, it can certainly be interfered with by other wireless devices in the area. Since the problem began after moving locations, it's a strong possibility.

One thing the remote does is follow the channel used by your wireless router. The first thing I'd try is changing the channel number your router is using to see if you can find a quieter one.
