connection question

is there a way to connect an older TV with a ROKU streaming stick? The TV does not have n HDMI port - only RCA jacks. I was told to purchase a RCA to HDMI converter. Will that work?

Re: connection question

Converters can go either direction or both.  Make sure it converts from HDMI to RCA and it must be a converter and not a simple cable.  Even then results could be hit or miss, so make sure there's a good return policy.

Re: connection question

Another thing to look for in your converter is that it must be able to provide the HDCP function that the HDMI connection on the TV normally would provide.

HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Copy Protection) is part of the HDMI standard and it prevents transmitting digital content unless BOTH ends of the connection support HDCP.  If the converter doesn't report back that it is HDCP compliant, the Roku won't send it any content.

Re: connection question

so the converter must be able to convert both rca to hdmi and hdmi to rca? Are any of the latest ROKU models compatible with the following : PAL, NTSC 3.58. NTSC 4.43, SECAM PAL/M or PAL/N standard tv.

Also can you tell me if the model 3810R has an RCA interface? Not sure what any of this means. Appreciate all your help. THX

No, only HDMI to RCA.  Some will go both directions and would also work, but you don't want one that only converts from RCA to HDMI.  All current Rokus are HDMI only.

The 3810R is a stick.  No stick ever had RCA outputs.  You may just want to shop for a new TV.
