Swapping Remotes Between Rokus

I have two Roku Premiere the 2.4GHz version. I wanna buy a Roku Ultra and pair it with an universal remote. 
can I pair the Ultra remote to one of my Premiere Rokus?

Universal remotes, as far as I know, are always IR.  IR remotes don't require (or support) pairing, so it will control any Roku with IR remote support (all but the sticks).

I know. But what I meant was: if I get the Ultra that has the extra buttons on it, can I pair that Ultra remote to the premiere?

It will pair with premiere, it will allow voice search, so the extra keys to memorize voice searches will work. But the headphone jack may not work on the premiere.
