Streaming Stick+ with Voice Remote Pro - Home Button doesn't work

I purchased a Voice Remote Pro to use with my older 3810X Streaming Stick+. Everything works fine except the Home button does nothing. Is this remote not fully compatible with the Streaming Stick+?

Amazingly, this problem was solved after charging the remote for 5 minutes. The battery level showed 70% when I started charging. Now it is up to 88% and the Home button magically works!
