Streambar or not streambar?

Hey y’all. New to Roku. Questions about the streambar…

I have a TLC tv with Roku. I’m interested in the streambar (or some other sound bar) to increase the audio quality. am I looking for the streambar? I’m just confused on the streaming part as my tv already streams Roku. I just need sound improvement. Please help my confusion and let me know if the streambar is designed for what I’m looking for…

thanks! AP

Re: Streambar or not streambar?

@AP7

You would be able to use either method to stream. Once you set up the Streambar, you can simply use its sound functionality and not its Roku, if you so choose. Use the HDMI ARC port on the TV to connect the Streambar.

Simply put, if you pick up the Roku TV remote, you'll use the Roku TV for streaming. If you pick up the Streambar remote, you'll use the Streambar to stream.

Re: Streambar or not streambar?

thanks dukes.

are you saying i could stream roku with this streambar on a non-roku tv...is that the point? seems like overkill to have a streaming soundbar on a roku tv that already streams roku.

but if the audio quality of these streambars compares to alternative soundbars it may be a moot point. do you or others know if these streambars are worth it for their audio quality...or are they more popular for their 2-in-1 streaming/audio ability.

Re: Streambar or not streambar?

I have two Roku smart soundbars connected to Roku tvs just for better sound. Use the streamer built-in to the tv instead of the one in the soundbar. I have a streambar in a box waiting to up setup in my nieces bedroom, but not attach to Roku tv. I love them. If you don't want to see the home screen of the streambar don't use it's remote.

I'm happy with my Streambar, but my ears are as old as the rest of me, so I can only say how it works for me.

Keep in mind, you don't have to use the Roku part of the sound bar. But you can. Doesn't matter. If the sound quality is to your satisfaction, you're good to go.

What I'm saying is nothing precludes you from hooking a Roku sound bar or Streambar to a Roku TV. You'll just have two Roku devices there instead of one. You can use either one.
