Roku 3 - back button IR command

I have a Roku 3 which i can control via the Sq blaster (its basically a learning remote). There is one (actually 2, but that is the most important one) button i cannot get, the back button. None of the controls in the database work, and as the remote is wifi only i cannot learn that command. There is another button in the iphone/ipad roku app, which brings up the channel list. So, ir learning does not work. But from reading here some people have all buttons working. But i could not find the ir or hex code on here.
I think my SQ blaster can use both pronto hex codes or ir codes.

I had the same problem with my URC universal IR remote and purchased one of the Roku standard IR remotes ($15 at link below) just to teach the back button to my universal.

And then I upgraded my Roku 2 XS to the Roku 3, which has such poor IR performance as to render my Universal remote useless. :x

Re: Roku 3 - back button IR command

Good idea. But I just had a look, they do not sell accessories in the UK.. I will try to buy the IR remote from somewhere else if i can. But maybe someone has the hex codes or ir codes as it seems to be difficult to get here in the UK. Not even on Ebay.

Re: Roku 3 - back button IR command

Thank you for those. I would have thought the second one should have worked, it looks like Pronto hex which SQ blaster can use, and it looks similar to other learned codes i use for other devices. But none of them worked.

Re: Roku 3 - back button IR command

Thanks everybody for the help, much appreciated. But neither of these codes worked for me. I have aksed SQ blaster support to see if they can shed light on why these codes do not work for me. I am waiting for their response, but that could be a few days.

Re: Roku 3 - back button IR command

There is some discussion inn the JP1 group about how to control the Roku 3.

People on the JP1 website have been hacking the universal remotes made by Universal Electronics Inc for more than a decade. Unfortunately there is a bit of a steep learning curve you need to go through before what they are talking about makes sense, and unfortunately, I'm only part way up the curve.

I've been able to send a "Back" button command in IR to a Roku 3 from a Universal Electronics remote. So the Roku 3 definitely responds to an IR command to go back to a previous screen.

In JP1 terms, the signal you want is NEC2 234.194, original button code 102, or extended function code 198. But I'm afraid this won't be helpful unless you have a UEI remote.

Re: Roku 3 - back button IR command

So the Roku 3 definitely responds to an IR command

All Rokus have IR and respond to the same IR commands. You can buy a standard IR remote with all the buttons for 15 bucks here:

All Rokus have IR receiving capability, except the Roku Stick.

You can't buy the accessories from the Roku Store in the UK.
