If it came with IR remote, it should just work. With new batteries in the remote, also unplug and plug the tv back in, see if it works now. If it came with a wifi remote, does it have voice search key with microphone on it? You might have to re-pair it, only if its a wifi remote, there's no pairing with simple IR remote.
