Remote going through batteries

I have gone out and gotten the Streaming Stick+ for three TV's and on all of them (I love the product), the battery fails after a week or two -- virtually every time I want to use Roku (I only use it for certain services because of this issue) I have to put in a new battery -- the same on every unit.  Very frustrating and costly; worse when I find I have no spare batteries.

Re: Remote going through batteries

Hi @Nitram1,

Thanks for reaching out regarding the issue you are experiencing.
We have released an update to your remote that we believe will address the issue you are experiencing. Please perform a system restart from your Roku device. This will update your remote to the latest version. This can be done by navigating to Settings > System > System Restart. After you perform the system update, continue to use your device as normal and monitor the remote battery percentage listed under Settings > Remotes > About. Additionally, if you had moved your Roku device power source to a wall outlet to help address this problem, you may now reconnect the USB cable to your TV's USB port if preferred.
If you are still having any issues with your battery drain after following these steps, please provide the serial number of your Roku device so we can assist further.

Regards,
Mary

My SS+ gets very heavy daily use.  My batteries last about 3 months.  But we see lots of complaints of batteries dying much quicker than yours.

I've seen some indication that this can be caused by your router using a channel that is crowded with a bunch of nearby routers using the same channel. Your remote has to work too hard constantly sorting through the information packets from all those other remotes and it uses up the batteries much too quickly.

If you have access to your router's setup, try configuring it to use a different WiFi channel to see if this helps the situation. In the 2.4 GHz band, channels 1, 6, and 11 do not overlap each other and so give you the best chance at reducing congestion, so try each in succession, although, depending on what channels your neighbors are using, other channels may work best. Also, reducing router bandwidth from 40 to 20 kHz may also reduce interference.

Please report back to let us know how you make out.
