Power/volume buttons not working

I have a samsung smart tv on which my roku was working great for almost a year and suddenly just the power, volume & mute buttons don't work. All other are fine.  I've reset,  changed batteries,  moved to a different hdmi port. Nothing.

Re: Power/volume buttons not working

Try reprogramming the remote for the tv:

settings> remote & devices> remote> remote in use> program tv> follow prompts

Tried that. Went through all the tv codes but won't connect. Doesn't make sense worked before with no issues.

Re: Power/volume buttons not working

Having the same issue. Does anyone know how to resolve this.

I also went through all the code and I have a message that says my tv will not work with a Roku remote. Even though it was all working fine literally last night.

The power and volume buttons on wifi-direct Roku remotes send the appropriate signals to your TV via line of sight infrared (IR) signals.   Different tvs have different sets of IR codes they accept, so you have to set up the remote to send the signals for YOUR tv.

Roku menu path:
Settings > Remotes & devices > Remotes > Remote (In use) > Set up remote for TV control
... then follow the prompts.

Only the tv control command are sent by IR.  On a remote with tv control buttons, the Roku itself is controlled by wifi direct, not IR.  So if the above doesn't work for you, make sure the IR from your remote is working:

  • If you have a digital camera, including one on a phone, try pointing the remote at the camera and pressing the tv control buttons.  If the IR is working you should be able to see it in the camera's view screen.
  • Make sure nothing is blocking the IR signal to the IR receptor on the front of your TV.
  • Check for interfering IR signals -- some fluorescent lights can interfere, as can direct sunlight.
