Is it possible to TurnTV on and off with standard remote without pairing button?

I have purchased the Roku Premiere 4K and Streaming. The setup went fine but I can't figure if the Roku standard remote can turn the TV on and off or control volume. I checked You Tube and the help videos only address the enhanced remotes with a pairing button.

No, not with an IR remote. The commands you're asking about don't even exist on the IR remote, so how you think it would somehow work. Smiley Happy Only Wifi remote have tv controls, your Premiere can be paired to a wifi remote if you get one, and then have tv controls too.
