I cna turn my TV off but How do I turn off the remote after watching.... say Netflix

I'm not sure what you mean by turning a remote off.  The Roku itself isn't meant to be turned off (though you can pull the power cord out.) When you want to stop Netflix etc. from streaming, press the Home button.  This is always a good idea, especially if your ISP has a data cap.

Most Roku TVs come with an IR remote. It doesn't have an on/off function. It only emits an IR signal when a button is pressed, so there is nothing to turn "off". 

If by some chance you have a WiFi Direct remote paired to your TV, there is no way to turn it "off". It remains in a low powered listening mode at all times.
