Re: How invasive is the voice remote, and can it be turned off?

First, we don't call ourselves "experts". Roku has given us that label. So in general we usually have pretty good advice.

For this specific thread, I believe the question has been answered. For the standard voice remote, the mic is off unless the button is pressed. For the Voice Mic Pro, the mic is hot at all times, but can be turned off. Roku provides a privacy statement that can be found at this page. Note that this is specific to US users, and other countries might have a different policy.

I cannot get the voice remote to shut off. The continuous talking is irritating. Help

@Dr-REC, continuous talking?  Perhaps you're speaking of the Screen Reader?  Press * four times or turn it off in the Accessibility settings.

The remote doesn't talk. It sounds more like you have the audio guide enabled on the Roku. This can be toggled by hitting the * button quickly four times. It can be disabled completely under Settings/Accessibility/Screen reader.
