Batteries drain quickly on three different Roku remotes

Like the title says I have three different models of roku around my house and all of their remotes drain battery very quickly. Sometimes pulling the batteries out and putting it back in helps but then it’ll just stop working again. Also one of them used to be able to control my Vizio tv and now it refuses to it’ll turn it on sometimes but it won’t turn it off or control volume. They used to work fine so I have no idea what changed. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Re: Batteries drain quickly on three different Roku remotes

@Emu751

I'm going to address the issue about the remote sometimes controlling the TV, not the battery use issue.

Did you configure your remote to control your TV, or did it automatically control it without going through the configure process?

Settings > Remotes & devices > Remotes > [your remote] (In use)

If that's not an option, then you haven't set one up, which you do by:

Settings > Remotes & devices > Set up a new device

This configures the IR signals from the remote to work with the brand TV you selected. There's some extra stuff that sometimes is needed to be done, but I won't bog down on that unless necessary. Is your remote configured to use your brand TV?

Note: If you remote controls your Roku, do not attempt to pair it again. The setup for controling a TV via IR has nothing to do with paring a Roku, and attempting to pair again only complicates things.

I actually did set it up that way originally. But suddenly one day it decided to stop working. I've tried setting it up again multiple times but it says none of the codes work now when it tries to turn off the music it plays.

Re: Batteries drain quickly on three different Roku remotes

Hey @Emu751

Thanks for the post.

Battery life will vary based on usage. For normal use, the remote batteries may last two months or longer. Does your Roku remote support private listening? This may also be one factor for the battery drain.

Please reply here with the serial number of the Roku devices associated with the affected remotes. It can be viewed by navigating to Settings > System > About.

We look forward to your response.

All the best,
Kariza

Hi @RokuKariza-D, the serial numbers are YH00H6752326, YH0070255046, YH00EF485092. None support private listening and all their batteries last a couple weeks.

Hi @RokuKariza-D, the serial numbers are YH00H6752326, YH0070255046, YH00EF485092. None support private listening and yet all their batteries last only a couple weeks.

Hi @RokuKariza-D. I’ve been trying to reply with the serial numbers but my messages aren’t appearing. System said it’s spam.
