Which android apps see roku streaming sticks and can cast local media to them?

It may depend on your phone and which flavor of Android. I have a Moto, which has a relatively plain Android, and it will only work with a Chromecast. It will not see the Roku or my BD Player.

Thanks. I was thinking more in terms of mxplayer, vlc etc? Haven't found anything that works yet

Much of the casting ability is done by Android itself. Some versions, as I mentioned, will only work with a genuine Chromecast. The only casting I have been able to do is with the Firefox app and the Firefox browser. And the last time I tried it, it's mostly useless as all you can control is play/pause.

I also think the YouTube player on the phone can open up the YouTube app on the Roku to play something.
