Unsupported signal error message

While watching shows on our Roku device the screen started flashing black. Went to hit the back button to determine if it was that streaming service or something else and then received the error message “Unsupported signal. Please check device output” from my TV. Have changed HDMI Ports and power sources several times with no change. Is this a problem with the Roku device?

Sudden Errror (no code): “Unsupported Signal”. Check device output.

I bought 3 Roku Premier Plus devices in Feb-20 for my 3 TVs.  One of them suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason. I have tried restarting, unplugging, changing the input port to HDMI2 and resetting the device but I get the same error. This is the same Sony Bravia TV that we have used since we bought the device.

any suggestions?

Additional note: When I turn on the device, it goes through the Roku Start up screen with the letters jumping but does not ever get to the Home Screen.   The screen just eventually goes black and I get the above error message which is likely from my TV stating the device is not sending a recognizable signal.

How are you powering it?  Is that one of the devices that uses a USB power adapter?  If so and you're using your TV's USB port, try the adapter that came with it or another one from a phone or tablet.

Re: Sudden Errror (no code): “Unsupported Signal”. Check device output.

It has power throughout the process which means it has ample power supply.  It seems that the output signal has been compromised.

The light on the received also blinks twice in repetition.

Huh?  How can you possible know this?  Try another power adapter.

@TM4

Thanks for the post.

I would be happy to look further into this issue for you.

Can you please send me a PM with the following information:
-Roku device model
-device serial number
-device ID
-device OS
(all of these can be found in Settings > System > About)
-what brand and model TV you are connecting the device

With this information I will be able to pass it along to the appropriate team to look into.

Thanks,
Danny

Re: Sudden Errror (no code): “Unsupported Signal”. Check device output.

I'm having exactly the same issue. Working fine for 2 years, then out of the blue, "Unsupported Signal" error. Also a Sony Bravia TV and I've tried everything but no results.

Did anyone find a solution?

@RokuDanny-R
I have tried using a wall adapter as well. No luck.

How do I Private massage you?  Is this it?  If so, I will send the info.
