Screen goes black, but audio continues?

Hi - recently whenever I use my Roku the selection will play for about ten minutes and then the screen will go black, but the audio will continue. It still works ok about 1% of the time...I've tried unplugging the Roku, power source and the TV - as well as resetting the TV and my router, but to no avail. Hoping someone here will have another trick I can try.... Thanks so much for the help!

It's an older TV (Philips FlatTV with only one HDMI input)

Re: Screen goes black, but audio continues?

Just have this issue last night, and the tv is only 4 months old, so it seems to be a TCL issue. Still waiting for a response from roku website support team, I don’t think they have permanent fix to the problem but replacing tv or a refund should be the least they should do. Waiting for the store who sold it to me opens, their next. Good luck on your end.

Re: Screen goes black, but audio continues?

I’m having the same issue with my 55” TCL Roku tv. Bought it some time in 2018. Haven’t had any problems until today. Screen is black, but can hear the sound. Hopefully someone has a fix for this soon.

Re: Screen goes black, but audio continues?

Same issue here! I actually had this issue with my TV back in 2018 while it was under warranty. TCL came out at the time to repair it, but they couldn’t, so they replaced the TV. Now, all of a sudden, the problem is back on the replacement, and I’m well out of warranty. I guess these TCL TVs just aren’t reliable for the long-term, so I’ll be looking at other brands.

Re: Screen goes black, but audio continues?

I just want to try to help here because I have been dealing with the most unbelievable problems with conflicting Roku, PC, Vizio tv issues you can't even imagine. I will be posting this on every forum I can because I think I finally have it. Not all your problems will come from just owning a Vizio, but I promise you, all the rest will be solved by doing these few things. They all say restart this, restart that, reboot, bla bla bla. IT NEVER WORKS. The real problems are in your connections, believe it or not, or more specifically, your HDMI cords. You simply can not use basic HDMI patch cords with all this newer HDCP 2.2 4k high end stuff that all streaming media devices are using today. Buy the best, highest quality, usually the most expensive gold plated, braided, best f@cking quality HDMI cable you can find, and the shortest you can use for your application. I did this on all my connections and my CRAZY, WEIRD problems all went away. I have searched every forum, looked all over the net, nothing says anything about your cabling. Before you go out and buy a new TV, try high quality HDMI cables and see what happens.

Re: Screen goes black, but audio continues?

I have had the same problem with a Roku 3 on HDMI2. First it was intermittent over intervals of an hour or two. Last night it was recurring every few minutes.  If I switch to HDMI1 and then back to HDMI2, it works fine for a while.
