Roku will not switch on when plugged into a power source

My Roku Express has been working fine since I purchased it in December 2020. That was until a week ago. When I plug the Roku into a power source it does not switch on or light up. This happens when the USB power cable is plugged into a power socket, and when it is plugged into another device (in this case, a DVD player). When I plug the USB power cable into the DVD player, the DVD player switches off. This did not use to happen. I believe the device is defective. I have tried pressing the reset button but had no results.

Can you advise who I contact about getting a new device? I purchased it via Argos but I believe it will have to come from Roku as tech support.

@jveseybyrne

Thanks for the post.

If there isn't a light showing on the Roku device when you power the device through a wall outlet, then it's most likely a defective power cable or unit.

For troubleshooting purposes have you tried using another power cable and adapter to see if you are still experiencing the same issue?

Please keep us posted.

Thanks,
Danny

Hi @RokuDanny-R

Thanks for your advice. I tried a another power cable this morning, and another adapter but still no light on the Roku Express.

@jveseybyrne

Thanks for the update.

Please send me a PM (private message) with your Roku account email address, and include the serial number/device ID on the Roku device along with a summary of the issue you are experiencing. I'll be able to assist you further from there.

Thanks,
Danny
