Re: Roku Ultra audio dropouts/distortion/sync

Cornel,

I suspected something like that might be happening after testing all the other possibilities. Glad to hear that you found a physical fix.

@Cornel So you just applied graphite thermal pad to the top of the chip without any heatsink on top of that layer (Not that there's likely any additional headroom in the housing)?

Not happy that Roku couldn't figure this out prior to release and develop a fix, but things happen. Benefit of the doubt here is that heat loads may have been acceptable with previous software versions. The newer versions may have increased the processor load in a manner that added a significant heat load. Seems like most started having these problems with the last release, though I've not read through this entire thread.

@rabidsquirrel

Please post again if you try this.  I'd like to hear the results of a 2nd user before I try it myself.

Re: Roku Ultra audio dropouts/distortion/sync

Thee is a kind of heat pad/paste on the lid that is supposed to match the underlying chip. However, it gets loose with time or is not present at all. Mine just did not have one. My friends had a warped one.

Re: Roku Ultra audio dropouts/distortion/sync

This is the definitely a software issue, it has happens over hdmi as either enabling private listing over the ios app or plugging in headphones onto the remote briefly allows the audio to come back to normal.

This issue happens on multiple TVs, on all Apps. Roku needs to release a software fix for this issue as it always comes back and it only started after the latest software release (9.2.0.4807)

Any official response from Roku yet?

Re: Roku Ultra audio dropouts/distortion/sync

No, I actually returned my stick plus and got the ultra and haven’t had any issues. Fingers crossed it’ll stay that way. I haven’t  heard anything  new from Roku. Hopefully a new software update will fix the issues for most people. I updated to the newest firmware and I don’t have the problem like I did on the stick plus, so I’m not really sure what’s happening...

Re: Roku Ultra audio dropouts/distortion/sync

Our roku started acting up in past days. After about 20 mins of watching tv, the sounds becomes distorted. Turn off, wait a few mins, and back on will fix it. Happens every time. Is there a fix for this? I've read the roku threads and really dont see an answer....thank you.
