Just got a the model Roku TV 4K as a present. Question is will the ARC of the TV stream 2.0 or 5.1 if connected to the ARC input on the AVR? Do I need a new Roku Ultra? Previously I've only had dumb TV's and only connected to my AVR with separate devices so I'm not sure how this works.
Yeah this is what concerns me. I am mixing 4K, HDMI 2.0 and ARC into my entirely 1080p 1.4 HDMI setup. Besides that I have a bit of an unconventional setup with a projector using a powered HMDI splitter that shares the TV display with the projector. I purchased a 4K @60Hz powered HDMI splitter and waiting on my second HDMI 2.0 cable so I can try to get this set up this weekend. I am just trying to understand everything so if I "theoretically" run into any connection issues I know how to fix them. I thought I read where I can change the ARC input on the TV to HDMI 2.0 but I'm wondering if that's going to cause any problems with my 1.4 hdmi blu ray player and my 1.4 hdmi fire tv currently connected to my AVR? 2.0 HDMI is what I wanted to use with the new 4K TV. My Onkyo TX-NR838 is 2.2 HDCP compatible so that should not be an issue.
