Roku Streaming Stick

Been having trouble with using the Roku streaming stick in that, while watching a program, it cuts out and buffers. It tells us we have 0 MGPS from our internet provider, but upon calling them they advise there is nothing wrong there and everything is working as it should. We believe this to be true as we are having no difficulty using our computers, so the internet is working as it should. We have been advised it is probably the Roku stick. It is at least 5 years old, so maybe it is time for a new one? Any advice out there?
