Would anyone happen to know if the Roku Express (3900) can run 1080i? I was thinking about getting one to replace the Roku 1 currently connected to my 2005 Samsung, but when I tried my current Roku Express (3900) on the Samsung I never got a picture, just blue screen, it's connected with a hdmi cable to dvi adapter. This Samsung unfortunately doesn't have 720p, so my only options are 1080i or 480p.

Yeah, that's what I assume my Roku 1 is doing, it plays fine whether it's set to 720p or 1080p, but my Roku Express just results in a blue screen in 720p or 1080p unfortunately. This tv is 15 years old and while it still has a great picture, I just don't want to spend to much on a device for it, especially given the hdcp handshake problems it tends to have.
Did you ever find a solution? I have an old dumb mitsubishi console dumb TV. and I tried running it through the receiver which takes all of my systems and channels them through a DVI cable to the TV. I get it looking purple, large, and half off the screen. Can't even see to connect to wifi. I had this issue with the old WiiU and was able to change the display resolution on the game console to get it to work. I think that if I go through the setup on a smart TV and then hook it up to the dumb TV, then I can do the display settings check.
