Roku Doesn't Bootup

My Roku Premiere, model 4620X, doesn't seem to boot up.  I've done a factory reset (holding 'Reset' for 30 seconds), and the box shows the "bouncing Roku" logo, and then nothing.
My Roku is only a year-ish old, so it shouldn't die so soon.
Do you know how I can fix this?

Re: Roku Doesn't Bootup

I want to add that when I say "factory reset", I also unplugged it, held reset, tried different HDMI ports.  The fact that I see the Roku's bouncing logo means that the box is able to send video via cable.  Now, it's that no menu or anything appears afterwards.

Re: Roku Doesn't Bootup

Let's get some more information.

Why did it need to boot to begin with? What happened to cause you to need to reboot it? Normally, the device is left on so it can get updates.

Describe how this situation came to be.

Re: Roku Doesn't Bootup

Hello Basil,
My father-in-law gave me his Roku in the hopes that I would troubleshoot it.  He said that the box simply "stopped working", so I don't have much more information other than that, unfortunately.
When I received the Roku and plugged it in the first time, there was no picture on my TV and it wasn't responding to the remote.  I figured that, since it "just stopped working", I may as well try a factory reset to see if I can get it going again.
After the reset, the problem is basically unchanged.

Re: Roku Doesn't Bootup

Any chance you are using a 720P set? Depending on the firmware the box has, there is a chance it can't sync up at 720 and will work fine at 1080.

Re: Roku Doesn't Bootup

This is the TV I have, and it says it has 1080p.

Re: Roku Doesn't Bootup

Can you access the Roku account to which it was tied? If so, scroll to the bottom of the account page (https://my.roku.com/account) find that device, and click Unlink.

Not saying that'll fix it, but if there's something odd going on with the Roku account, unlinking it may clear that out and allow it to fully reset.

Re: Roku Doesn't Bootup

I just got in touch with my father-in-law and looked at his Roku account. But, before I get into that, I had a thought

When he gave me the Roku, it was setup with his wifi settings and everything.  I've done a factory reset (which erases wifi data, right?), and can't input my input wifi network info (because it doesn't boot.)  So, if there's something wrong with the account, how does the Roku know? It can't even get online yet because it doesn't know my wifi settings.

It seems to be a hardware issue.  What do you think?

EDIT: I unlinked the Roku, and the problem persists.

Fair point.

Yeah, it certainly sounds like the Roku is toast. Maybe someone else has an idea?

Re: Roku Doesn't Bootup

If the Roku is, in fact, toast, is somebody from the manufacturer reading this?  I confirmed that he bought the Roku in December, so the device shouldn't die after less than 6 months.

Is Roku willing to replace it?
