Replacing my old Roku device - Which one?

I have a Roku streaming stick, 3400X. It is about three years old. Software 8.0.0 build 4128-05. It seems to sometimes struggle to stream the new FoxNews streaming channel. I just bought a Roku ready TV with no problems.
I am wondering if technology has surpassed my stick.
I have had Roku for years and LOVE it!

Re: Am I current

You might want to update your Roku.. that is about 3 or 4 years old, and you can get a newer, faster stick or a Roku Express (that work with ANY TV, unlike the stick you own, which only works with certain Roku Ready TV's).. the newer stick or Express are so much snappier.. of course if you want the best picture quality you need a fast internet connection, but I'm speaking about menu navigation and channel load times.
Yeah, I got some Rokus.

Thank you. That is kind of what I thought. Do you think a newer stick is as good as the Express. I have a fast internet connection.

Re: Am I current

I might add, I am only streaming to one TV which sits about 10 feet from my router.

Re: Am I current

I think the newer stick is better than the Express, because it comes with a remote control that doesn't have to be aimed at the device.. It also sits out of sight, unlike the Express. I think the processor might be a little faster in the stick, too.. either way, you're definitely upgrading from what you have.
Yeah, I got some Rokus.

Re: Am I current

I am about to replace a CRT TV and the 2012 Roku HD (2500) that's hooked up to it.  The TV is fairly close to my router, so contrary to my usual desire to have a movable Roku to ensure good wireless reception, I'm thinking about a Streaming Stick (for basic TV, no 4K).  It may be interesting to you, too, that the Stick is capable of twice as many wireless protocols.  So, my final Roku purchase will be The Streaming Stick (3800).  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roku

Re: Am I current

Just before I left for Walmart this morning, maybe a couple of hours ago, I checked the price of the Streaming Stick (3800) on their website at my store's location.  Yep, in stock, $39.99.  I found that they were selling it for $49.99.  I was able to show the sales clerk the webpage on my phone, and indeed it showed $39.99, with the fine print above the price advertised $10.00 off.  So, I got it for $39.99.  If you are thinking about buying one soon, check your Walmart webpage and this Roku's price.
