Exact same issue, and with same tried unsuccessful solutions, with a Sony x900f using the proper And compatible HDMI inputs and auto detect.

Dropped Dolby Vision frames on Ultra

I’ve had to 2020 Roku Ultra for about four months. Just the last couple of weeks, it’s begun to occasionally drop video signal just long enough for the screen to go black. It returns within 1-3 seconds, which is enough for the TV to identify a new Dolby vision signal. The audio stays up the whole time. I have all new cables, and there was no problem until very recently.

Re: Occasional flashes to black with Dolby Vision after update to 10.0.0 software

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the posts.

If you are still unable to resolve the issue, can you please provide us the following information:
-Roku device model
-serial number
-device ID
-software OS/version
(these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
-tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times)
-steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing

Once we have this information we will be able to pass it along to the appropriate Roku team to investigate further.

Thanks,
Danny

Is it OK to post our serial numbers/device IDs on a public forum post, or did you mean for us to send you this information directly?

I don't think there's any danger from posting those in a public forum. They are not personally identifiable to you in any way other than to someone that can access the Roku database, and there's no ability to remotely connect to your device using that information.

But you never want to post your email address in a public forum, here or anywhere else.

Re: Occasional flashes to black with Dolby Vision after update to 10.0.0 software

Device model: 4800X

Serial Number: X0100010WATT

Device ID: S02A2080WATT

Software Version: 10.0.0 build 4185-C2

Tracker ID: TT-171-367

I was watching Narcos Mexico Season 2 on Netflix. A few times an episode the issue would crop up without my doing anything. Sometimes it would only momentarily flash black and the picture would return (with the Dolby Vision logo appearing in the upper right corner) and sometimes the screen would black out long enough for the HDCP error to pop up, which is especially annoying in a show with a lot of subtitles like Narcos.

Re: Occasional flashes to black with Dolby Vision after update to 10.0.0 software

I disabled Auto Recovery that that seems to resolve my issue with Dolby Vision (at least over an evening of watching).

I was perplexed by the Roku auto detection of Dolby Vision signals. For that test, the 4800 indicates I can display 4K HDR, but not 4K Dolby Vision. Dolby Vision defaults to 1080p, and when I force it to 4K 60 Hz, I get a pink and green display.

I confirmed via my Sony (X900F) and Denon (X3200) HDMI input-outputs screens that both have display and pass through capability for 4K 60 Hz signals (HDR and HDR10). The Sony has a Dolby Vision line but it does not specify 30 or 60 Hz, the Denon does not provide Dolby Vision information (but online research indicates DV capability).  I am confused as to why I would use 1080p Dolby Vision, when I can use 4K HDR, taking full advantage of a 4K display. Searching online for that 4K Dolby Vision designation I find similar confusion, but no complete answer to my question about why I can display a 4K HDR signal but not a proper Dolby Vision 4K (60 Hz) display.  Can anyone provide some guidance on that question?

Make sure you set the "HDMI signal format" to Enhanced for your TV, and similarly for your Denon.
