I just got my Roku stick yesterday and it is set up and working except that the picture, specifically the words on the left side of the screen are partly missing. It is off center and so I can't see numbers to activate codes etc. How do I get it centered? Thank you for your help
I've been having the same issue with Hulu for a few days now. It's only with Hulu and no other apps. And tv is not 4k.

But is it a 720? You could get the same thing if it is erroneously trying to display a 1080 signal on a 720 screen and fails to down-res it.
After I posted this, I did check to see what it was set to, and let it auto adjust in the Roku settings which took it to 1080.
I know when it happens now as well. While watching a show on Hulu, it is fine when the show first starts. The alignment issue happens midway through the show after a commercial break. I tried going out and starting the show again from the same spot, but it still stays out of alignment.
We're flying blind here when we don't know the specifics of the Roku and TV being used.
What Roku model and model number (Settings > System > About). Whether this model is even capable of outputting 4K may be germaine.
And again, is this a 720p television? What model is it? Most of them can support receiving a 1080i or even 1080p signal, but must down-res it to 720 for display. If it receives 1080 but doesn't down-res it, I can envision it producing the issue you describe, where you only see about 2/3 of the picture.
I think you're seeing the problem occur when a commercial is not at the same resolution and/or frame rate as the program it's inserted into. As a result, every time it switches into or out of the commercial breaks, the combined Roku/HDMI/TV system must reconfigure itself to accommodate the change. If either component doesn't do it right, or doesn't give the correct information in the renegotiation of the HDMI handshake, it can lead to problems.
I'd suggest not leaving the Roku's "Display type" settings (Home > Settings > Display type) on Auto, but set it to your TV's actual native resolution, to eliminate this as part of the problem.
Also, your Roku may have an "Auto-adjust display refresh rate" item at Settings > System > Advanced system settings > Advanced display settings. I can't see how this could affect picture size, but it is something that could kick in when going into/out of commercials, so try changing this and see if it makes any difference.
And finally, I have a basic Hulu subscription with ads and don't see this. Give me a specific program where you see this and I'll try it here. Maybe the whole problem is at Hulu's end.
Same problem here. It just started happening a few days ago. The picture will randomly zoom in and there doesn't seem to be a way to get it back to normal.
I haven't made any changes to the TV or Roku settings an I've been using it for at least 3 years.
The version is 3800x
LCD TV 55PFL5706/F7 | Philips - which supports 1080
It doesn't matter which show it is, it happens on anyone with commercials about halfway through viewing. I did think it was a HULU issue, but there was more posts here so I started here first.
The issue just started happening within the last couple of weeks.
So, I contacted HULU, and it is their issue

Yep, I have had my Roku plugged into the same port on my TV for months and have changed nothing. Yesterday I opened Hulu for the first time in a couple weeks, and I had the same problem screen size issue after commercials midway through, not after commercials at the beginning. I kept backing out of the video stream to fix it, only to have the same issue at the next commercial break.
