Hi Res Audio from Amazon and Tidal. How to output PCM high resolution from Roku Ultra?

Hi-Res Audio from Amazon and Tidal. How to output PCM high resolution from Roku Ultra? With Amazon and Tidal now outputting high resolution music, can we get this passed through Roku and not lowered down in resolution?

Is there plans for a new audio friendly Roku?

Thanks

Scott

Re: Hi Res Audio from Amazon and Tidal. How to output PCM high resolution from Roku Ultra?

So far Roku has made no indication that they plan on offering players with higher-end functions. They have been asked for years to support lossless audio bitstreaming, but nothing has happened. They have a support page here that offers information about playing local media, but they say nothing about how high resolution audio is handled. As you note it's probably being down-converted to PCM, but at what resolution I have no idea.

Re: Hi Res Audio from Amazon and Tidal. How to output PCM high resolution from Roku Ultra?

I am glad I stumbled across this, as I have just hooked up my older Denon AVR-X2000 and it seems the best I can get both with hi-speed HDMI from Roku to Denon or from Roku to LG TV to Denon is PCM at a bit rate of f=46 khz according to front panel of Denon.

I tried both ways of hooking up and used both Amazon Music, as well as Vevo to test. I do get Dolby DigitaI+ and such with Netflix, Disney+, Tablo, etc... (although I am only utilizing a 2.1 set-up), but was hoping to stream hi-res audio. Curious that there is a Tidal app on Roku, not sure the point if it isn't any better than 46 khz.

Does anyone know whether AppleTV provides hi-res audio capabilities? Perhaps I will test this evening.
