I've been waiting for about 4 months now on a fix for the HDR issue with my ultra.
The 9.1 update has fixed my HDR issues - Support had previously allowed my device to revert to 8.1 to restore HDR functionality with 4k 60hz.
Yep! Same here.
Wow. Unbelievable I am back here again with similar issues. After the last update I am having an issue where either in vudu or Netflix I don't always get HDR going. Or at times especially in VUDU, HDR is working then I hit the 15 second rewind and lose HDR. If I hit the rewind button a couple of more times it usually comes back.
@rey_1178 Try enabling streaming stats in Netflix (press the * key once when you are in the channel's content page—you won't see any message or indication that it has been enabled) then play content, and watch the streaming stats when this issue occurs. These will appear in the upper lefthand corner of the screen, and will display both your current connection speed, and the quality of content that is playing. 4K HDR content is usually 3840 x 2160 pixels.
If your connection speed drops below Netflix's requirement to deliver 4K HDR content, this content quality becomes unavailable. This can either be caused by your home network connection, the bandwidth being provided by your ISP, or by the connection to the channel provider's content servers. If there is an issue in any of these segments of your connection, this may cause the behavior you see. Netflix uses adaptive streaming technology that will adjust the video stream being sent to your device based on the current speed of your connection from end to end.
Keep us posted from there.
Same issue? My setup was working flawlessly and now no 4K menu or content. Doesn’t pass the tests for 4 k, etc. roku>Anthem>Sony. Rocks when it works. Definitely think it was caused by the latest firmware. My 4K HDR SONY 1000es player works perfectly as of a few minutes ago. Please help us find a work around or update. Thanks!
Turn of AutoDetect in your display setting and force it to one of the 4K @ 30/60hz or HDR setting. I've posted this a couple times with regards to my Ultra box but Roku won't respond. AutoDetect is doing nothing with regards to auto detecting.
I've tested this by turning it on and going to Amazon Hanna 4k UHD TV displays in 1080P. Force my setting which Roku validates with 3 green check marks to 4K HDR @ 60Hz back to Hanna 4K UHD and my TV displays 2160P HDR10 and the picture is stunning.
The problem here is that auto detect will often take over even after you have forced the setting to one from above. This is obviously a bug, it's also related to the Netflix apps not working which you can read about in the other discussions...
Let me know if this works for you
My connection speeds are good. I have a GB network and me speeds from my ISP average at about 240mbps. I know the GB network is useless for the ultra since it does not have a GB Ethernet port. But there's more than sufficient speed for netflix. The issue was also on VUDU. Netfilx shows Video: 15.25 Mbps / 2160.
After the last update things are better. Netflix no longer loses HDR nor does vudu. Only annoyance on vudu are blackouts for a few seconds after REW or FFWD. There is still an issue where when you come back to the ultra after a few hours and turn everything back on the screen is blue. I am not sure if the roku is going into standby mode and causing an issue with the HDMI connection. Perhaps I should disable screen savers and see if it stops. Quite a few folks at the AVS forums complaining of losing things like 4k that was better after disabling the screensaver.
If I go back to the roku after an hour or so the screen is blue. After going to another input and back to the roku it may come back or may not like last night where I had to unplug it. It is not the SC-LX502 because non of the other devices do this. It's not the input as I already switched it to another and tried different cables too. I don't know if this thing is dying on me and it just turned a year old so bye bye warranty.
Thought disabling the screensaver and forcing it to only 4k HDR 60HZ had worked but it just happened again a moment ago.
@RokuTannerD since hdr isn't even the main issue right now, connection is the main issue, I am posting in this thread https://community.roku.com/t5/Roku-Device-Features-Settings-Updates/Firmware-version-9-2-0-4143-rele...
I hope you guys are paying attention to feedback in that thread and this one
So, not sure we’re on the same page. In my situation, I can’t now get the green check marks. It displays at 1080p. It was 4K and all chEckmarks not a month ago. Not sure what happened. When I had 4K errors in the past I changed the chroma setting on: 4.2.2 from the default of 4:2:0. It made it all work right and no errors ever. I now can’t get it to do 4K ch Kmarts, though I’m fairly sure when I got a 4K show it was HDR. Brightness went up on menu as is typical to me. Hope this helps.
