Garbled Sound

We have a roku ultra, new Samsung tv, new samsung sound bar with subwoofer and frequently experience garbled sound when the all the equipment is turned on. Changing the source from the tv remote from hdmi 2 to hdmi 1  fixes the problem. Any suggestions?

Re: Garbled Sound

@Kisters

Thanks for the post.

Have you tried switching the Roku device to the other HDMI port that you are not experiencing the issue with as well as using another HDMI cable to see if that helps?

Please keep us posted.

Thanks,
Danny

Re: Garbled Sound

I think it is how I setup the Samsung tv. I will contact their support tomorrow to see if that helps. I have tried 3 different cables. Thanks for the suggestion I’ll give it a try.

Re: Garbled Sound

Hi, I posted this on another thread, but thought it might help you too. First of all, I am not a Roku employee. I am simply a fellow consumer who (appears to have) discovered an adequate (temporary) workaround for this issue, pending a software fix. Here is what I did:

From the Roku home screen, go to Settings -> Audio -> HDMI.

The default setting is Auto Detect. When I changed this setting to Auto Passthrough, the problem goes away. I haven't experimented with other settings, but this appears to be the source of the problem.

I hope this helps my fellow frustrated users...and will await my reward (and software fix) from Roku!
