I’m experiencing a choppy sound on any channel I watch on roku. The best way to describe the sound is: if a car drives by on a show I’m watching, instead of hearing a smooth “shhhhhhhhhhhhhh” sound, I hear “shh tsh tshhh tsh tsh tsh tshhh tshh.” I have a Roku 2 XD. I’ve tried different HDMI cables and ports, and I hear it from both the TV speakers and wireless headphones, so it’s not the TV speakers. I’ve tried unplugging the roku for both 30 seconds and up to 15 minutes and neither works.
I'm had the same problem on a brand new Roku Ultra. Started last week after owning it for barely a month. Tried everything I could think of, moving tvs, roku's, nothing worked. I'd put the roku on a different tv and it worked fine, but when I moved it back to the first tv the sound was still so choppy it was unwatchable. Of course, I was able to do this without unplugging the roku.
When i finally unplugged the roku from the electricity and plugged it back in, that's when the choppy sound went away.
I am finding that I have to restart the Roku quite often. I wish Roku could pin down the issue. It does not seem to be specific to a particular app, they all have the choppy audio issue when the Roku gets into this state.
+1 for all this (bought an ultra in 2020). When it happens it seems to happen in all the apps and unplugging it from the power seems to be the only solution. Happens frequently enough to be quite annoying otherwise the Roku is awesome.
