Can a Roku device do the same functions as a DVR?

The subject is basically the question I have about Roku.  Can I do the same sort of functions with a Roku device that I could do with a DVR.  Can I Pause watching a program and then Un-pause and continue watching a program being streamed?  Can I "Rewind" a portion of the program I am watching and then Replay what I just watched?  If I did a Pause, could I Fast Forward the program to skip over parts I did not care to watch?  Thank you, Al

It depends on who created the channel/app.  For most on-demand videos you can do all of that, although they may force you to watch ads if it's ad-supported.  For live streams, probably not.  Many channels don't even allow you to pause a live stream let alone rewind.  In many ways streaming is a giant leap back for technology.
