Re: Audio Popping while watching movie

I'm also hearing audio popping while using a Roku Netflix Player with a wireless setup. The noise is coming from the right speaker. It sounds similar to a computer crunching data, but is softer than the sound of the streaming movie, or tv show.

It starts when the stream begins and lasts for awhile then quiets down. I have heard the noise using both composite and component cables.

FWIW I also have a Samsung BD-P2500 that is streaming Netflix with a wired connection on another TV using HDMI and have not heard any audio popping with that setup.

For all Roku Netflix Player units affected by this I hope the audio popping will be fixed in the next firmware release, or be addressed by Roku in the near future.

Re: Audio Popping while watching movie

Just chiming in - I have this issue as well, usually it's in the beginning stages of a stream, and becomes less or non-existent as time passes. This is on firmware 1.01 on an HDMI out directly to a TV.

Re: Audio Popping while watching movie

Put me on the list of audio popping.

The box is using HDMI (even switched hdmi cables) and wifi.

Tv speakers or using a analog stereo receiver. Same popping.

Even with the beta firmware the problem persists.

Sometimes it's bad, other times it's light, other times I can't hear it or maybe get use to it. But it happens.

Re: Audio Popping while watching movie

Seems like wifi is the culprit..

I also have it, but it seems like it only happens immediately after queueing up the movie.. After a minute or so, the popping is usually lessened.
Yeah, I got some Rokus.

Re: Audio Popping while watching movie

I might as well throw in my 2 cents... although it's not much.

I'm connected wirelessly with the Roku box connected directly to the TV via HDMI with no popping whatsoever. I've not tried running the audio output to a receiver yet...

I'm WIRED ethernet and get clicks

Throughout the movie. Every 2 to 4 minutes.

After a click the right channel drops out for a few seconds. -very annoying

HDMI from Netflix box to SHARP 40RV525U.

From TV to older Technics receiver via RCA connectors.

Love the Box - please advise!

Re: Audio Popping while watching movie

Just noticed that the subject line is not very obvious so I want to emphasize that I have a WIRED ethernet connection.

thanks

Re: Audio Popping while watching movie

Hi, it's me again. Two things.

First, I forgot to mention that when I heard the click I also saw a horizontal line across the display at the same instant.

Secondly, I just watched another movie and there was NO clicks whatsoever during it.

The first movie (with the clicks) was The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.

So maybe it is an encoding thing specific to a particular movie (or movies).

Don't mean to confuse the issue but hopefully all clues will help lead to identifying and solving the issue.

By the way, did I mention that I love this box. Smiley Very Happy

Starz movies

Been watching a few Starz movies and only noticed the audio popping while watching them.

Using composite plugins to analog TV.

Regular movies and instant tv have no popping.

my answer is to not watch Starz anymore. no more popping.
