Playback Issues - Audio/Video & Power

I have a Pioneer VSX-1131 when I select 4k upscaling my Roku doesn't work. I think the Roku is older 3600x
Any idea what's going on there?

Model 3600 is a Stick. Is it set to output 720p or 1080p? I don’t know enough (read: anything) about that AVR, but if the upscaling requires 1080p and the Stick is set to 720p, might that be a cause?

The stick is set to 1080P..is what it shows anyway

yes settings in the Roku set to 1080P..then I go back turn on upscaling in the receiver..no Roku

And, have you confirmed that other sources (devices) using that HDMI input work with upscaling?

Not certain why you want the AVR to perform the upscaling. It's highly unlikely that it performs better upscaling than the TV itself. You didn't mention what TV you are using.

A $2000 TV, a $600 AVR, and a $40 Stick.

One of these things is not like the other...

Still, it should work. Dan and others have lots of experience with setups similar to yours, so you’re in good hands. Don’t forget my question about other devices on that same input.

Everything is going into the Pioneer via HDMI (HDCP 2.2) one HDMI (ARC from Pioneer to Vizio ARC)
