I recently upgraded my router from 30Mbps to 100Mbps. At 30Mbps my Roku speed was 22.2Mbps and now at 100Mbps Roku speed is 26Mbps. Why slight increase? Does my Roku Express max out at 26Mbps? Do other Roku models operate faster?
The Roku is designed to display one video at a time, streaming in from the internet. Its hardware is designed with this in mind. Any speed capability beyond that required for this function would be wasted, so the Roku is not equipped for it.
Semi-appropriate analogy: If you want to wash your car, even if you have a high capacity fire hydrant at the end of your driveway, a low capacity garden hose is all you need.
